13 Back-to-School Gifts For Your Child's Teacher That They Actually Want

Summer is just about over, and the school year is upon us! I know that you have a mile-long list of school supplies to purchase and to-do’s to check off before your kiddos hit the books again, and one of those things is back-to-school teacher gifts.

They do so much for them, and with everything on their plate and all that they do for our kids, they deserve a little something special to start the year off.

However, you don’t want to be basic with your teacher gift if you're like me. They’re sure to get plenty of hand sanitizer and apples. Get them something that will stand out!

Here are my top 13 favorite back-to-school gifts that their teacher is bound to love.

  1. Dry Erase Markers

This may seem like a basic gift. Hear me out.

I take my pens very seriously, and having fresh writing utensils is a huge deal. I consistently buy the same pens because I love them so much, and they run out quickly! Having extras on hand helps me breathe a sigh of relief.

It’s the same for teachers. Nothing is worse than going to the whiteboard for a lesson and finding that all of your markers have run dry. Give them the gift of some quality dry erase markers. Heck, go big and get them the Costco pack. I know this is a simple one, but I promise they will be used to good use.

  1. At-Home Spa Kit

Teachers have a lot on their shoulders, now more than ever. When they get home for the day, they deserve time and space to relax. To help them with this, consider giving an at-home spa kit!

Grab a cute basket and fill it with everything she’ll need for a night of relaxation. A bath bomb or bottle of bubble bath, a face mask, some nail polish, a candle, yummy lotion, even a good book are all great things to include in an at-home spa kit.

  1. Purse-Sized Care Items

If adulthood has taught me anything, it’s that we should always be prepared. Consider giving your child’s new teacher a couple of purse or backpack sized items as a gift! If they find themselves in a pinch and reach for that pocket stain remover, they’ll think “Man, Cam’s mom is so nice and resourceful.”

Ok, maybe not, but it’s still a good idea. Pocket lotion, hand sanitizer, tissues, wet wipes, room spray, and chapstick are all great ideas.

  1. Some Cute Stickers

Who doesn’t love some fun, expressive stickers to help make a statement? Teachers see plenty of stickers day in and day out, but those are all full of smiley faces and primary colors and “good job” exclamations. Get her something that is just for her!

There are plenty of cute sticker options in the shop that she’s sure to love. Take a look and snag a few!

  1. Gift Cards

You know, I’m going to be honest. I used to be very against giving gift cards as gifts. But with time, I’ve found that this is a pretty reliable way to go. If you don’t know what to get, let them pick for themselves!

On top of that, there are so many options to choose from. You could get them a gift card for a food delivery company, or perhaps a gift card to the grocery store. You could get them a gift card to an office supply store to get more items for their classroom, or to a local restaurant.

The options are limitless and you pretty much can’t go wrong with this option.

  1. A Portable Charger

Who doesn’t like having a little extra power with them on the go? There is nothing worse than finding yourself with a dead phone or tablet with a low battery. Especially in the classroom, if they’re using a small device as part of their lesson, they don’t want to find themselves with a low battery. A portable charger can lend a hand both in and out of the classroom.

  1. A Trusty Tumbler

We live a world where insulated tumblers reign supreme, and are even considered status symbols to some. Whether you go with the ever-coveted Stanley tumbler or you get her your personal favorite brand, this is an awesome teacher gift.

Looking to elevate this gift? Include a gift card to a nearby grocery store and write her a note telling her that you want her to use it to get her favorite drinks!

  1. Cute Sticky Notes

It could just be the paper-loving soul that I have, but I think that everyone deserves pretty sticky notes. And come on! This is teachers we’re talking about! There is some level of love for office supplies there.

Whether it’s sticky notes that feature cute shapes or designs or even sticky notes with prompts, this is a gift that is sure to bring a smile to her face.

  1. Tasty Treats

Do you have a recipe for banana bread that has been passed down from your great grandma? Or have you mastered the art of chocolate chip cookies? This could be jus the thing to make the first day of school special. Whip up that tasty treat, write a nice note, and give it to your child to pass on their teacher.

  1. A Mini Coffee Maker

So many of us need that trust cup of coffee to help jumpstart our day, and it is especially true for teachers of young children. They are doing good work out there, and quite frankly, they deserve to have delicious coffee at their fingertips! A mini coffee maker is just the thing to make that happen.

Now this is one of the more costly options on my teacher gift list, and probably isn’t for everyone. Maybe save this one for your friend who is starting her first year as a teacher, or for the teacher that has had each of your kiddos in her class.

  1. An Awesome Tote Bag

Picture this- you’re getting ready for the day, and you start gathering everything that you need to take with you for the day. You have your phone, laptop, your lunch, some snacks, that item to return to the store, a letter to drop in the mailbox, and all of a sudden, you’re dropping things and you’re running late.

You know what can resolve these issues?

A tote bag.

You know who deserves a tote bag?

Your child’s teacher.

  1. Bluetooth Portable Speaker

Imagine the fun that can be had in the classroom with a bluetooth speaker. A quick dance party, a guided yoga class, maybe listen to an audio book. A teacher can do amazing things with a bluetooth portable speaker, making this a great option for a back-to-school gift for your child’s teacher.

  1. Personalized Grading Stamp

Teachers spend tons of time grading papers and quizzes, and while I’m sure they all want to provide some positive reassurance for their students, it can get cumbersome. Giving a personalzied grading stamp takes care of this problem!

She’ll use it just about every day, and it’s a major time saver, which means that you are her new favorite person. Congratulations!
